Have you ever thought of becoming a youth soccer referee? It’s a great way to stay involved with soccer, travel around, and earn money. The benefits are numerous. Referees that travel outside their area usually earn travel pay, meaning they can get reimbursed for gas and/or hotel rooms. Plus the pay isn’t too bad. A referee that works most Snap Soccer events can earn over $5,000 in a year. If you enjoy it, and are good at calling games, you can go far and earn exceptional pay at the college and national levels. And let’s not forget, you no longer have to complain about referees when you become one. You join a group of like-minded people that care about calling a good game.
If you’re a soccer club director, it is in your club’s best interest to find those “super-volunteers” and get them certified as referees. There is currently a shortage of qualified local referees in most areas. This means you will be paying more for events due to higher costs to bring referees in from farther away. Start a grassroots referee recruitment program and grow your own referee staff for friendlies, leagues and tournaments.
These courses are all virtual Zoom meetings that last an hour and a half. Once you’re done, congratulations! You’re on your way to becoming an integral part of the game of soccer.
The below courses are all Alabama and Florida courses. With that being said, you can be located in any state and receive your license through the state of Alabama.
Ultimately, we recommend getting certified by the state of which you live’s association.
