Help The Red Cross From Your Couch!
Pensacola, FL. (May 5, 2020) — Youth Sports is a part of our daily lives. We plan around it, we build lifelong friendships from it, we learn valuable life lessons that stay with us forever. But like the rest of the world, youth sports came to a complete halt during the government mandates to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
This has left a gaping hole in the hearts of many players, coaches, parents, administrators, and companies that support the youth soccer industry.
Because of the partnership and vision of several companies, we are hoping to connect soccer enthusiasts across the country during an online soccer tournament series called “The Couch Cup”. This first event will be May 7-9th with other events to follow in June and July.
The Couch Cup is an online eGaming event that is being managed by Snap Soccer, a youth soccer management company, in partnership with SOCCER.COM and PUMA. “The idea of raising funds for relief efforts by hosting an online FIFA event was immediately loved by our whole staff at Snap Soccer,” said Snap Soccer founder, John Guidroz.
Players will register online at The-Couch-Cup.com and then be bracketed and scheduled to compete online at FIFA 20 on the Xbox One gaming console. Top players in the youth and adult brackets will win gift cards to SOCCER.COM and PUMA soccer equipment as part of the event. Most importantly, Snap Soccer will be donating 15% of all the registration proceeds to help the American Red Cross amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
“SOCCER.COM is working hard to help players stay in the game by sharing at-home training resources and other content designed to help them stay sharp mentally and physically. We’re excited to now partner with Snap Soccer and PUMA to engage the soccer community in a fun e-gaming soccer tournament and continue our support for the American Red Cross,” said Jimmy McIntyre, SOCCER.COM VP of Marketing.
Jennifer Johnson said, “At the Red Cross, our work never stops. Coronavirus hasn’t prevented us from continuing to serve our communities—but it has meant we’ve had to adapt how we serve them. This means conducting casework virtually after disasters, increasing safety measures at blood drives, and much more. Donations will help the American Red Cross continue to deliver its lifesaving mission nationwide due to this public health emergency.”
To sign up for the event, players can register online at The-Couch-Cup.com. Snap Soccer will post brackets and schedules on the event website. The semifinals and championship match will be streamed on Snap Soccer’s Twitch.tv account.
“I never thought I would be managing video game tournaments, but with these changing times we are excited to be able to keep our soccer families engaged while raising money for a good cause,” said Zack Touchstone, Operations Manager at Snap Soccer.
If your soccer club or organization would like to part of the May, June or July events, please book a call with the SnapSoccer team. https://calendly.com/jguidroz/
